justdreamingoutloud98 asked: Opinion on sugar not being vegan? I try my best to avoid it but sometimes don't realize when it's added. I don't eat any animal products but I feel that because of sugar I'm technically not vegan... Any tips on avoiding It? Answer private please.
About 25% of white sugar in the US is filtered using bone-char. If a product lists “sugar” as an ingredient, it will certainly be white refined sugar. source
I don’t consume any white refined sugar or any products that contain it. The risk of it not being vegan is relatively low, but hyper refined sugars are just extremely unhealthy and i prefer not eating them. That being said, all excess sugar is really pretty bad for you so… Products with vegan friendly sugar will list the type of sugar used in the ingredients.
Vegan friendly sugar:
Evaporated cane juice
Unbleached cane sugar
Sucanat (SUcre de CAnne NATurel)
veganproducts.org (links to bone char free sugar manufacturers)
I keep posting stuff that was asked to be private wth is wrong with me. Sorry wow.
